2020 Fall Pre-Season

PLEASE READ FIRST:

This is not a regular season.  You know, unprecedented times and all.  But the school is allowing us into the pool.  YAY!

Our plan is to dip our toes in the water, so to speak, with a short Fall Pre-Season, and if things go well, we will have a more traditional Winter season.  In order to make this work, here are some changes for the Fall Pre-Season:

  1. This Fall Pre-Season will run from as early as October 26th (yes, this Monday!) until November 24th (Thanksgiving).
  2. The Fall Pre-Season is open to Northview students and children of Northview employees only.  If things go well, we will re-evaluate for the next season.
  3. We are foregoing New Swimmer Evaluations.  If you are a new member of our team, please see the requirements of your athlete below.
  4. Locker rooms will not be available before or after practice.  Please come in your suit, ready to swim and bring “comfies” to put on afterwards.  Again, there will not be a place to change.
  5. We must limit the number of swimmers on deck and in the pool – approximately 70 swimmers per group.  To accommodate this, we are adjusting the practice times (see below.)
  6. Athletes must wear masks to and from practice.
  7. Temperatures will be taken before every practice.
  8. If you do not feel well, please stay home.
  9. There will not be any scheduled meets or invitationals for this Fall Season.
  10. While NCST will have workout equipment available, it is recommended your swimmer provides their own if possible.  See recommendations below.
  11. Everything is subject to change.  We’re asking you to be flexible as we can adjust (for better or worse) as the season progresses.  Hopefully everything goes swimmingly and we can have a more regular Winter season starting in December.

Fall Season details and sign up forms are below.

But wait!  NCST is looking for new board members!

Several Board Members have swimmers aging out of the program and we’re looking for people to assist in the operations of the swim team. Are you interested in keeping this program running?  Board Members are active hands-on participants in the running of the team. We want to hear from you!

Practice Schedule

Practices begin October 26th and ending at Thanksgiving break (November 24th.)

Join NCST Online

Practice schedule is similar to previous seasons – generally 5 days a week. This is meant to accommodate the busy family. Multiple days are offered with the expectation that your swimmer will be able to attend at least 3-4 practices a week (on average – we’re all busy families.)

    1. Swimmers competing 8 & under – swim 25 yards unassisted
    2. Swimmers competing 9 & up – swim at least 50 yards unassisted
  2. It’s possible coaches may change your swimmers group either up or down to adjust to your athlete’s ability.
  3. NCST is a competitive swim team.
  4. Your swimmer is expected to compete in swim meets. This is a personal challenge to improve your own times throughout the season.
  5. NCST is not swim lessons.

Note: Every season we have to balance the training groups depending on who signs up. It’s possible you trained with a different group last season and will be moved up or down this season. We won’t know until everyone has registered, but please be flexible. We want to keep similar ability and ages together.
