NCST is practice is cancelled tonight due to the snow day. Have a good night off!
Saturday’s meet is away at Calvin (on the East Beltline.) If your swimmer is unable to participate, we need to know by 6:00 PM tonight. Because this is an away meet, we will not have a call for volunteers or concession donations.
NEW FOR 2016 – All registered swimmers will be entered into the meet. You must let us know if your athlete will not be participating. This is a change from last year.
Swimmers not showing up will affect relay teams (3 other swimmers) so it is imperative that you let us know if your athlete is not participating by 1/12/2016. This isn’t like RSVPing to a family party, if we don’t have an accurate participation count, other swimmers will lose chances to swim.
We Cannot Participate in the 1/16 Away Swim Meet

Here are the results from today’s meet. Great job everyone. We apologize again for the late start, with one of the teams now attending we had to reshuffle the events.
Ribbons for swimmers who earned them should be available next week.
Next week’s meet is away at Calvin (on the East Beltline.) Watch for emails this weekend about opting-out.

Here is the event line up for this weekend’s swim home meet against Calvin and Kentwood. However, there always will be last minute changes due to illnesses and other unforeseen circumstances.
Please write your swimmer’s event numbers on his or her hand or arm tonight. The coaches will be organizing the team, so please have your swimmer ready.
Parents, show your support by wearing your black or red NCST Parent shirt.
Volunteers, check your email for information from Signup Genius.
Date: Saturday, 1/9/2016
Location: Home meet
Make sure your swimmer arrives with ample time to check-in and warm-up. Highlight your name on the wall in the athletic lobby.
Check-in: 7:45am
Warm-up: 8:00am
Meet Starts: 9:00am
Make sure you write your swimmers events on his or her hand or arm (See below for details).
Make sure your swimmer arrives with ample time to check-in and warm-up.
Check-in: 7:45am
Your swimmer must check in so that the event coordinators know he or she is there. If your swimmer does not check in, he or she will be scratched from the events.
Check in is either with a person or you highlight your name on a list (it depends on location but our plan is to have a list on the wall for highlighting your name.)
Once checked in, swimmers proceed to the locker room and swim deck and find your team and Coach. The team generally sits together and cheers each other on.
Your athlete will want 2 towels, one to sit on, one to dry off with. Healthy snacks is a good idea, remind them to clean up after themselves. Something to entertain themselves between events may be a good idea – electronics are discouraged (it’s a wet pool after all.)
Don’t forget your goggles! In fact, bring an extra pair if you have them.
Warm-up: 8:00am
Coaches will warm up the athletes.
Meet Starts: 9:00am
Once the meet starts, athletes need to listen for their events to be called. They will be marshaled ahead of time to keep the meet moving. This is where it helps for the swimmer to have his or her event numbers written on his or her arm. Note, we won’t know the heat and lane numbers until the day of the meet.
Remind your swimmer they are representing themselves, our school and our community. Be respectful of the facility and other swimmers. Cheer their teammates on and have fun! This is the first competition of the season, swimmers should focus on improving on their own times.
Don’t forget to read our First Timer guide online too. Especially the part about Heats and Events (your swimmer may win a heat, but not the overall event. Some events have many heats.)

We Cannot Participate in the 1/9 Home Swim Meet
Likewise, if your swimmer has not actually registered for the team yet, he or she will not be entered into any events. Please register by 1/5/2016.
One way we keep our registration fee low for NCST is by generating revenue from our home meet concessions. Unlike the normal school sports concessions where items are purchased, marked up, and then sold, The NCST relies on items that are purchased and donated by you the parents of the team. This way, your contribution of a box of candy or bag of apples is magnified and really helps the team.
Click the link below for a list of things we need for the coming meet(s). Please sign up for at least one of the items, or more if you are able : ). If you are short on time and do not have time to run out and pick something up we will also take cash donations that we can use to purchase what we need. Please bring your donations to the pool deck during practice. We have a great tradition of support by the team parents and it makes a huge difference so thank you very much!
I Can Donate Items to the Concession Stand
NCST is a 501(c)(3) corporation and your donations may be tax deductible.
In addition, we are looking for volunteers to help run the concession stand as well as apprentices to learn the concession stand operations for next year.
Please contact Molly Bierens if you are able to volunteer or are interested in getting involved in concession operations.
We have several volunteer needs to help keep our swim meets running smoothly. Please consider signing up to help the team out on Saturday, January 9, 2016.
Never helped before? No problem, we will train you, help you and thank you profusely!
Clean Up Crew, Timers, Marshalers and Greeters… they are all easy jobs.
