Updates for this week!

We need your help this weekend!

Here are some notes about what’s happening this week :

  1. Tuesday –  No practice on 1/30.  There is a Varsity Meet.
  2. Thursday – The Varsity boys team will be bleaching their hair.  So, they will be on the deck during practice and the family locker room will not be available for NCST.  You may want to check out the fitness locker rooms.
  3. Saturday – NEW TIMES FOR THE MEET ON SATURDAY!  We’re gonna move the start time for the Championship B Meet up to 9:00 AM.  Y’all are here anyway right?  Let’s get down to the nitty-gritty, let’s get show on the road!
    1. Warm Up: 8:00 AM
    2. Check In Ends: 8:15 AM prompt
    3. Swim Meet Starts: 9:00 AM
  4. Saturday – We need just a few donations for the concession stand.  If you can donate, we appreciate it!

I can donate!

We Need Volunteers for the B Meet!

We need more volunteers than usual!  For the Championships we need twice as many timers (two per lane, so sign up with a friend!)

And the Northview Athletic Boosters is graciously allowing us to run the concession stand for the B Meet.  But… there are also other sporting events going on those days that run later than our meets.  That means we will be able to sell concessions for these other events and all proceeds go to NCST.Never helped before? No problem, we will train you, help you and thank you profusely!

Clean Up Crew, Timers, Marshalers and Greeters… they are all easy jobs.

I can volunteer at the 2/3 Championship Meet

Planning Ahead for the Championship Meets

Please Read – All Championship Meet Opt-Outs are Due Monday 1/29 at 6:00 PM

Time to focus on the Championship Meets.

How to determine which Championship Meet your swimmer is attending (read carefully – it’s confusing, we know!):

  • All swimmers who competed in at least 1 regular season meet will compete in a Championship Meet.
  • Your swimmer will compete in only one Championship Meet – either the A or B.
  • If your swimmer is 13 or over, he or she will attend the A meet.
  • If your swimmer is 12 or under and not on the list of A meet qualifiers, he or she will attend the B meet.
  • A meets are away meets – see locations.
  • The B meet is at home, and we will need more help than usual!  More information below.
Opt-outs for the Championships are due Monday (1/29) by 6:00 PM ET.

More Meet Information

  • Because they include so many teams, the conference meets are run differently than regular dual meets.  We will be competing with 8 other teams in our half of the West Michigan Swim League.  This also means they run a little longer – so be prepared.
  • At the B meet, there is no medley relay, only a freestyle relay.  Swimmers are allowed to swim 1 relay and 2 individual events.  However, each team may only enter 1 relay, so only 4 swimmers in each age/gender group will swim in a relay.
  • Everyone will be entered in their 2 individual events.
  • Swimmers may only swim events for which they have a seed time.
  • Because there are several officials at conference meets, disqualifications will be called on the technical aspects of each stroke, i.e., illegal kicks (common in breaststroke and butterfly).  Therefore, most swimmers will be entered in freestyle and backstroke events.
  • Generally, the Championship Meet signals the end of practices for your athlete – watch for End of Season Party information – tentatively scheduled for 2/12.

1/27 Meet Entries

Please write your swimmers events on their arm tonight before they go to bed!

FRIDAY!  Yeah, that’s right, it’s friday.  Unfortunately it’s not a sleep in day tomorrow, but we’ll have a rockin’ good time at the swim meet.

But first…

Before we get to our meet entries for tomorrow, I need to ask a HUGE FAVOR of y’all.  I’ll explain below, but we need concession stand volunteers to keep the concession stand open later than usual.  Your help is immensely appreciated, and all proceeds go directly to NCST.

I can volunteer tomorrow at the 1/27 Swim Meet

I can volunteer at the 2/3 Championship Meet

Here is why this is a big deal

As you know, we have a quad meet tomorrow, that means we’ll have 4 team’s worth of swimmers and parents.  Also, we’re hosting the Championship B meet on on 2/3.  There will be parts of 8 teams that day.

The Northview Athletic Boosters is graciously allowing us to run the concession stand for both these Saturdays.  But… there are also other sporting events going on those days that run later than our meets.  That means we will be able to sell concessions for these other events and all proceeds go to NCST.  These proceeds allow us to pay our coaches, rent the pool time and buy equipment that benefits all our Northview swim teams.

Please write your swimmers events on their arm tonight before they go to bed!

Alright, here’s what you came for – Here is the event line up for tomorrow’s home swim meet against Grandville, Wayland and East Kentwood.   However, there always will be last minute changes due to illnesses and other unforeseen circumstances.

Please write your swimmer’s event numbers on his or her hand or arm ahead of time.  The coaches will be organizing the team, so please have your swimmer ready.

  • We are going to attempt to run the meet at the same pace as we did last week
  • Events will be combined, swimmers need to get in line well ahead of their events
  • We’ll likely be doing flyover starts again
  • Be respectful of our great facilities
  • Be courteous and friendly to our guests
  • Please keep kids off the track and fitness center equipment

Note – after this meet, there is a very tight turnaround for the Championship meets.  NCST has to submit our entries Monday night, so depending on how this last home meet goes for your swimmer we’ll need to know if you are attending the championship meet this weekend.

Watch for the results email on Saturday with the A Meet Qualifiers.

1/27 Meet Volunteers & Concession Donations

This weekend we are hosting three other teams for our meet.  So it’s going to be a big meet.

Please take a moment to talk to your athletes.

  • We are going to attempt to run the meet at the same pace as we did last week
  • Events will be combined, swimmers needs to get in line well ahead of their events
  • We’ll likely be doing flyover starts again
  • Be respectful of our great facilities
  • Be courteous and friendly to our guests
  • Please keep kids off the track and fitness center equipment

Concession Stand Donations

With the bigger meet we have the opportunity to generate some revenue for the team through the concessions stand.  See the donation list below and if you can donate to the concession stand, please do!

All proceeds benefit the team.

I Can Donate!

Volunteers

We have several volunteer needs to help keep our swim meets running smoothly.  Please consider signing up to help the team out on Saturday.
