First Home Meet is a Week from Saturday!

Happy Monday!

You ready to get this started?  Everyone have their New Years Resolution swim times set?  Our first home meet is right around the corner on January 11th.

1/11/20 Home Meet Information

1 – Unable to Participate

All registered swimmers (as of 1/6/20 at 6:00 PM) will be entered into the meet. You must let us know if your athlete will not be participating. Swimmers not showing up will affect relay teams (3 other swimmers) so it is imperative that you let us know if your athlete is not participating by 6:00 PM on 1/6/20. This isn’t like RSVPing to a family party, if we don’t have an accurate participation count, other swimmers will lose chances to swim. By 6:00 PM on 1/6/20 let us know your swimmer is unable to participate.

By 6:00 PM on 1/6/20, let us know your swimmer

We Cannot Participate in the 1/11/20 Meet

2 – We Need Help Stocking the Concession Stand

Our concession stand also needs to be stocked.  Selling items in the concession stand is how we keep our registration fees low.  If you can donate, please do!All proceeds benefit the team!  Please bring your donations to the concession stand when your swimmer checks in.

I Can Donate!

NCST is a 501(c)(3) corporation and your donations may be tax deductible.

3 – Volunteers

We have several volunteer needs to help keep our swim meets running smoothly.  Please consider signing up to help the team out on Saturday.

Never helped before? No problem, we will train you, help you and thank you profusely!

Clean Up Crew, Timers, Marshalers and Greeters… they are all easy jobs.

Oh, you’re a first timer?  Don’t know what Reindeer Relays is?

It’s an NCST tradition.  It’s an endurance challenge where we put all the athletes in the water and see who lasts the longest.  That swimmer gets to be Rudolph!  It’s super competitive.  Nah, just kidding, it’s a night of fun and crazy races.  Just how crazy? Come and find out!

Team Suit Information

This season we’re not asking swimmers to purchase a specific suit for the meets.  Instead, we’re asking you to wear any suit with a black and red pattern.  If you can’t find one, choose a plain black one.

Suits do wear out, we recommend choosing name brand suits by Speedo, Tyr or Dolphin.

Your racing suit shouldn’t be baggy.  You want a tight fit to move smoothly through the water on your way to your best times!

Here’s a couple of examples we recommend, in no particular order — make sure you choose the black/red color or all black versions.

Girls

Boys

Here’s some more information from our First Time Swimmer’s Page.

Swim Suit

Your swimmer will need a competition swim suit.  Boys usually wear a jammer style.  Girls should wear a one piece suit.  Choose a suit that your swimmer feels comfortable in, but remember, racing suits should be a little tight.

Please find a similar black and red patterned suit.  If you cannot find one, choose an all black suit.  We will usually recommend a couple once the season starts.  Suits do wear out, we recommend choosing name brand suits by Speedo, Tyr or Dolphin.

You may also want one or more practice suits to keep your competition suit tight.  Suits do wear out.

Goggles

Your swimmer will need competition style swim goggles. Many of our coaches recommend the Speedo Vanquisher style.  Goggles frequently break and get misplaced.  Swimmers should have a spare set.  Coaches do not have extra pairs to loan out.

Quick Note About Weather Cancellations

Don’t Freak Out! There is nothing that I know of in the forecast.  But when there is, we get a lot of emails asking if we are cancelling (hint: we’re probably not.)  Here’s the deal:

Practices

You should plan on practices happening even if school is closed or weather seems to be getting worse.  So plan on having practice unless you hear otherwise from us.

If the district is requiring us to cancel practice they will notify us around 2:00 PM and we will notify y’all as soon as we can after that via emailwebTwitter and Facebook.

Meets

You should plan on meets happening even if the weather is bad.

There is too much planning and coordination among teams to cancel.  We understand some families may not want to risk the travel, and that’s ok.  If you can email us, that’d be great.

In the event of a meet cancellation, we won’t know until the last minute, but we’ll notify y’all as soon as we can after that via emailwebTwitter and Facebook.

Let Me Sum Up

It’s on, like Donkey Kong!  Swimmers are hardy individuals.  We will have practices and meets almost no matter what.  You don’t need to contact us to ask, we’ll contact you if it’s not happening.  🙂
