Why Should I Sign Up?

The NCST Spring Swim Camp is the perfect chance to focus on essential principles in swimming that make a big difference in the pool. Stroke technique plays a vital role in the overall progression of swimmers throughout their career. The more attention a swimmer gives to proper stroke mechanics and fundamental skills, the more the swimmer improves. Our Spring Swim Camp provides a unique opportunity for coaches to interact with swimmers and deliver important material in a fun and effective way.

Who Is the Swim Camp For?

If you can swim at least 50 yards (two lengths of the pool) without any assistance, you can sign up! Whether you’re new to the sport of swimming or already a member of a swim team, the NCST Spring Swim Camp has something to offer everyone that joins. Swim camps are great for any swimmer looking for a way to stay in shape, meet new people, and learn something new.

The camp is divided into two sessions, the 12 & Under session and the 13 & Over session. Each session is designed to place swimmers close to their peers to enhance the learning experience.

The 12 & Under session gives younger swimmers a chance to train without worrying about being intimidated by older swimmers who are generally, stronger, faster and more experienced. The 13 & Over session caters to middle school and high school age swimmers looking for a way to prepare for a competitive swim team, stay conditioned out of season, or improve their skills for next season.

What Can I Expect To Learn?

The NCST Spring Swim Camp offers three distinct weeks of specialized training. Each week is designed to improve particular skills of swimming.

Week 1: Drills and Technique
The first week targets fundamental drills and educational material aimed at improving stroke mechanics and efficiency within the four competitive styles of swimming: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly.
Week 2: Starts and Turns
The second week is devoted specifically starts and turns. Swimmers will learn the methods used by competitive swimmers to perform proper race starts using the starting blocks and the correct way to do flip turns and wall transitions.
Week 3: Race Strategy
The third week is designed to develop racing skills and strategies that improve speed and endurance in order to help swimmers drop time in their events.

Still Unsure? How About a Free Evaluation?

Sometimes it’s difficult for parents to decide if a swimmer is ready for swim camp. We want to help you by offering a free camp evaluation on Wednesday, March 9th and Friday, March 11th starting at 7:30pm. It’s highly recommended that all 10 & Under swimmers attend a camp evaluation before registering. During the evaluation, we’ll get your swimmer in the water and determine their ability so you feel confident in placing them in our program!
