I hope everyone knows how this works by now… if not drop us a note because I’m gonna skip this section this time around.

Swimmers Bags & Lost and Found

Hey Parents, please check your swimmer’s bags for items that are not yours.

We have several reports of  missing or mixed up items. Many of the swimsuits look very similar but sizes get mixed up when the athletes are packing up.  Please check that the suits you have are the correct sizes.

Thanks!

1/21 Home Meet Info

If you can’t make it this weekend, you must let us know by 6:30 PM tonight!

For the last two meets, the other team has only sent about 30 athletes to compete against our 150-ish.  Next week is going to be different.  We expect East Grand Rapids to be a much bigger team.

1 – Registration/Unable to Participate

All registered swimmers (as of 1/16/2017 at 6:00 PM) will be entered into the meet. You must let us know if your athlete will not be participating.

Swimmers not showing up will affect relay teams (3 other swimmers) so it is imperative that you let us know if your athlete is not participating by 6:30 PM on 1/16/2017.  This isn’t like RSVPing to a family party, if we don’t have an accurate participation count, other swimmers will lose chances to swim.

By 6:30 PM on 1/16/2017 – that’s tonight, let us know your swimmer is unable to participate.

We are unable to attend the 1/21 Home Meet

2 – Volunteers

We have several volunteer needs to help keep our swim meets running smoothly.  Please consider signing up to help the team out on Saturday, January 21, 2017.

Never helped before? No problem, we will train you, help you and thank you profusely!

Clean Up Crew, Timers, Marshalers and Greeters… they are all easy jobs.

I can Volunteer!

3 – Concession Donations

We need to restock!  One way we keep our registration fee low for NCST is by generating revenue from our home meet concessions. Unlike the normal school sports concessions where items are purchased, marked up, and then sold, The NCST relies on items that are purchased and donated by you the parents of the team. This way, your contribution of a box of candy or bag of apples is magnified and really helps the team.

Click the link below for a list of things we need for the coming meet(s). Please sign up for at least one of the items, or more if you are able : ). If you are short on time and do not have time to run out and pick something up we will also take cash donations that we can use to purchase what we need. Please bring your donations to the pool deck during practice. We have a great tradition of support by the team parents and it makes a huge difference so thank you very much!

I Can Donate!

NCST is a 501(c)(3) corporation and your donations may be tax deductible.

In addition, we are looking for volunteers to help run the concession stand as well as apprentices to learn the concession stand operations.

4 – Actual Meet Information

If you can’t make it next week, let us know before by Monday (1/16/17) at 6:30 PM.

First Timer?  Here’s some more information

Make sure your swimmer arrives with ample time to check-in and warm-up.

Check-in: 7:45 am
Your swimmer must check in so that the event coordinators know he or she is there.  If your swimmer does not check in, he or she will be scratched from the events.

Check in is either with a person at a desk or you highlight your name on a list – it depends on location.  Go with the flow when you arrive, you’ll figure it out.

Once checked in, swimmers proceed to the locker room and swim deck and find your team and Coach.  The team generally sits together and cheers each other on.  Parents up to the balcony to watch.

Your athlete will want 2 towels, one to sit on, one to dry off with.  Healthy snacks is a good idea, remind them to clean up after themselves.  Something to entertain themselves between events may be a good idea – electronics are discouraged (it’s a wet pool after all.)

Don’t forget your goggles!  In fact, bring an extra pair if you have them.

Warm-up: 8:00 am
Coaches will warm up the athletes.

Check in Cut Off: 8:15 am
Any swimmers who have not checked in by 8:15am will be scratched from the meet.

Meet Starts: 9:00 am
Once the meet starts, athletes need to listen for their events to be called.  They will be marshaled ahead of time to keep the meet moving.

This is where it helps for the swimmer to have event numbers written on his or her arm.  Note, we won’t know the heat and lane numbers until the day of the meet.  So, just write the event number, distance and stroke on your athlete’s arm.

Remind your swimmer they are representing themselves, our school and our community.  Be respectful of the facility and other swimmers.  Cheer their teammates on and have fun!  Swimmers should focus on improving on their own times and this is a for fun invitational.

Don’t forget to read our First Timer guide online too.  Especially the part about Heats and Events (your swimmer may win a heat, but not the overall event.  Some events have many heats.)
