First Timer?  Here’s some more information

Make sure your swimmer arrives with ample time to check-in and warm-up.

Check-in: 8:30 am
Your swimmer must check in so that the event coordinators know he or she is there.  If your swimmer does not check in, he or she will be scratched from the events.

Check in is either with a person at a desk or you highlight your name on a list – it depends on location.  Go with the flow when you arrive, you’ll figure it out.

Once checked in, swimmers proceed to the locker room and swim deck and find your team and Coach.  The team generally sits together and cheers each other on.  Parents up to the balcony to watch.

Your athlete will want 2 towels, one to sit on, one to dry off with.  Healthy snacks is a good idea, remind them to clean up after themselves.  Something to entertain themselves between events may be a good idea – electronics are discouraged (it’s a wet pool after all.)

Don’t forget your goggles!  In fact, bring an extra pair if you have them.

Warm-up: 8:30 am
Coaches will warm up the athletes.

Check in Cut Off: 8:45 am
Any swimmers who have not checked in by 8:45am will be scratched from the meet.

Meet Starts: 10:00 am
Once the meet starts, athletes need to listen for their events to be called.  They will be marshaled ahead of time to keep the meet moving.

This is where it helps for the swimmer to have event numbers written on his or her arm.  Note, we won’t know the heat and lane numbers until the day of the meet.  So, just write the event number, distance and stroke on your athlete’s arm.

Remind your swimmer they are representing themselves, our school and our community.  Be respectful of the facility and other swimmers.  Cheer their teammates on and have fun!  Swimmers should focus on improving on their own times and this is a for fun invitational.

Don’t forget to read our First Timer guide online too.  Especially the part about Heats and Events (your swimmer may win a heat, but not the overall event.  Some events have many heats.)

Good News and Bad News

I have some good news and some bad news.

First the bad news, NCST practices are cancelled for this Thursday (12/7).  The Middle School Diving Championships are going to run into our practice times.  Sorry about the late notice on this.

Remember to watch the Team Calendar for updates.

Now the good news…  Making Waves is coming on Monday (12/11) from 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM with suits to try on.  Please note, we will be using the family locker rooms for this.  We’re hoping you’ll be able to order suits from them at this time also, if you have not already ordered one online.

One more bit of good news, we have ordered the kids’ team shirts and expect to get those back in just a few weeks.

Registration and Money Due 12/4/17 by 7:00 PM in the Pool Office

Are you thinking about participating in the invitational this Saturday?  If so, we need your registration and money by 7:00 PM tonight so we can get the entries in.

NCST will be participating in the Hudsonville Holiday invitational on 12/9.This is an optional invitational and the fees are not included with your NCST Team registration.

This invite is a great way for your swimmer to see how a meet is run before the regular meets start in January.  Hudsonville is also hosting one of the championship meets, so we wanted our swimmers to have an opportunity to try out their pool before that meet.
