Winter Season Sign Ups

I know what you are thinking…

“Dude, it’s not even officially Fall.”  “My schedule is crazy driving kids everywhere with Fall sports.”  “I haven’t even had a Pumpkin Spice Latte yet!”

But NCST Swim Season will be here before you know it.  Just imagine cold, snowy January and you can sweat it out in the warm humid pool!  Good times.

  • Practices start November 12th.
  • Mostly the same practice times for 2018-19 (Bronze is a little longer)
  • First time swimmers must attend New Swimmer Evaluation (see below)

Please note:  We won’t know the actual meet and championships schedule until the end of this month when we have the league meeting.  We’ve published our best guesses, but we could be off a week.

New Swimmer Evaluation

First time swimmers must attend New Swimmer Evaluation on November 5 OR November 6 from 6:00-7:15.

This is a drop in evaluation.  Your swimmer evaluation will take 10-15 minutes.  You will not be there for the whole time.

Your swimmer must be able to compete in the distances for his or her age group:

  1. Swimmers competing 8 & under – swim 25 yards unassisted
  2. Swimmers competing 9 & up – swim at least 50 yards unassisted

Coaches will determine which practice level is appropriate for your athlete.

Returning NCST Swimmers are also welcome to attend if you are unsure which practice group is appropriate for your swimmer’s skill level.

Note: Every season we have to balance the training groups depending on who signs up. It’s possible you trained with a different group last season and will be moved up or down this season. We won’t know until everyone has registered, but please be flexible. We want to keep similar ability and ages together.

More Meet Information

  • Because they include so many teams, the conference meets are run differently than regular dual meets.  We will be competing with 8 other teams in our half of the West Michigan Swim League.  This also means they run a little longer – so be prepared.
  • At the B meet, there is no medley relay, only a freestyle relay.  Swimmers are allowed to swim 1 relay and 2 individual events.  However, each team may only enter 1 relay, so only 4 swimmers in each age/gender group will swim in a relay.
  • Everyone will be entered in their 2 individual events.
  • Swimmers may only swim events for which they have a seed time.
  • Because there are several officials at conference meets, disqualifications will be called on the technical aspects of each stroke, i.e., illegal kicks (common in breaststroke and butterfly).  Therefore, most swimmers will be entered in freestyle and backstroke events.
  • Generally, the Championship Meet signals the end of practices for your athlete.
